Why Nijmegen Women and Girls’ Rugby Festival?

The Nijmegen Women and Girls’ Rugby Festival offers teams a unique opportunity to come together not only to compete at a high level, but also to honour the past through remembrance. Set in a town deeply affected by World War II, the festival reminds us of the importance of unity, courage, and resilience, both on and off the pitch!

For women and girls in rugby, this festival is a chance to take up space, be seen, and be celebrated on an international stage. It shows the strength of the women’s game and the importance of building global connections through sport. Travelling to Nijmegen reinforces confidence, broadens horizons, and creates memories that last a lifetime, all whilst being part of something much bigger than a single match.

What to expect

Board your coach from your home club and begin the journey to the Netherlands – it’s time to bring that team spirit across borders! After arriving in the historic and vibrant city of Nijmegen, settle into your accommodation and get ready to kick off the tour with a welcome dinner and reception hosted by our brilliant local partners. It’s the perfect chance to unwind, meet the other teams, and get excited for the rugby-packed days ahead!

Fuel up with breakfast, then head over to the home of the Nijmegen Wasps – your hosts for this incredible rugby festival. Between games, enjoy a meal plan laid on by the hosts, cheer on your fellow teams, and soak up the spirit of the game. The day ends with music, food, and that unbeatable feeling of shared passion for rugby.

After another hearty breakfast, it’s back to the pitch for Day 2 of competition. This is your chance to shine, whether you’re chasing victory or playing just for the love of the game. As the festival draws to a close, gather with players, coaches, and supporters for the official presentations – a time to celebrate effort, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments. From standout tackles to surprise tries, every player leaves with memories to last a lifetime.

It’s time to pack up, check out, and hit the road – but you won’t be leaving empty-handed. This tour is a celebration of community, courage, and the power of the game. As you journey home, reflect on what you’ve achieved – and start dreaming of the next tour.

Yes, you will need formal permission to tour abroad. Please check with your local FA or RFU for the latest guidelines on international travel and participation.

Age groups in Europe are generally based on calendar years (January 1 – December 31), while in the UK they’re based on school years (September 1 – August 31). This means your team might need to play in a higher age category (e.g., a UK U10 might play as a European U11). Many tournaments allow for up to 3 players born in the latter part of the year to compete in the lower category, but more than 3 players born after September may need to play in the higher age group. This is a common practice and won’t affect your team’s performance.

Absolutely! We offer a variety of excursions and activities, such as theme parks, water parks, stadium tours, and more. Speak with your Tour Consultant to explore options, and we can seamlessly add these to your itinerary for a hassle-free experience.
