Why the Armistice International Rugby Festival?

Combining history with sports, the Armistice International Rugby Festival is a unique chance for your team to compete for glory and explore famous WW1 landmarks. From paying respects at the Somme Battlefields to training with an international coaching team at Arras RC, this festival truly has it all. Meet teams and clubs from the UK, France, and other countries, and get ready to forge both new friendships and unforgettable memories.

This festival promotes the three ‘R’s: Remembrance, Respect, and of course… Rugby!

What to expect

Board the coach from your club and depart for the Dover ferry. Once you’ve arrived in France and checked into your accommodation, enjoy a delicious dinner!

After breakfast, it’s time to visit the Somme Battlefields with the education team – explore and reflect on this important part of history. In the afternoon, attend the brilliant ceremony at Mametz Woods. End the day with a scrum-tastic training session at RC Arrans or RC Amien!

Start this thrilling day with a visit to the Commonwealth War Graves to pay your respects. Afterwards, head over to RC Arras for an exciting afternoon of rugby training – it’s time to get the action going! To cool off, attend the rugby remembrance service with your team and then enjoy a catered dinner at RC Arras.

Time for a scrum! Head back to RC Arras for team registration at 9:00, and then it’s kick-off time at 10:00 – which team will take the crown? Spend the evening celebrating at the evening presentation… relax and soak in that team spirit!

Home time! Check out and then board your coach for your journey back home, before taking the ferry across the channel.

Yes, you will need formal permission to tour abroad. Please check with your local FA or RFU for the latest guidelines on international travel and participation.

We’ll handle your group’s ferry travel arrangements, working with local providers to ensure a smooth and safe crossing into Europe. While crossing timings can’t be guaranteed at the time of booking, they will align with your itinerary. Full travel details will be included in your tour documentation.

Age groups in Europe are generally based on calendar years (January 1 – December 31), while in the UK they’re based on school years (September 1 – August 31). This means your team might need to play in a higher age category (e.g., a UK U10 might play as a European U11). Many tournaments allow for up to 3 players born in the latter part of the year to compete in the lower category, but more than 3 players born after September may need to play in the higher age group. This is a common practice and won’t affect your team’s performance.
